Western Digital, Facebook campaign
A call to action encouraging the social consumer to revolt.
Previously Western Digital had been only known for one thing, hard drives. Today, they have an awesome set of home entertainment products and we wanted to let consumers know in an engaging way that demanded attention.
Our solution came in the form of a custom Facebook application - a first of its kind experience before sophisticated Open Graph and aggregation features existed. Users could launch an ambush and earn points by asking friends to back them, like and promote their ambush with comments and wall posts.
Promoting sharing, increased reach and participation. Users could also track the success of their ambush within a unique detail page with their profile photo and points while top ambushers were displayed on a real-time leader board.
In addition to successful metrics like increased followers and overall engagement, the platform enabled a bonus ‘win’ for the campaign with measurable coupon offers and integration with the WD e-commerce platform.
